Bereavement leave is granted to Full time employees with standard hours of 30 hours or more for the loss of an immediate family member. An immediate family member is classified as one of the following: employee's spouse, domestic partner, child, stepchild, parent, stepparent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or an adult who stood in loco parentis to the employee during childhood.
Paid bereavement leave will be granted for up to four consecutive days off from regularly scheduled duty with regular pay in the event of the death of an immediate family member.

In the event of a death of a family member, the employee must notify their supervisor of the need for bereavement leave as soon as possible. The notification should include the name and relation of the family member who has passed away as well as the anticipated time away from work.
